Who we are
We believe in making our regional towns and cities a great place to live and work, both now and for future generations. We do this by working with government, community and not for profit organisations who need help navigating the complexities of the regulatory system.
We are not traditional town planners and lawyers – we use our unique blend of skills and experience to develop practical and outcome based solutions for our clients. This includes working across council functions, understanding different levels of government and collaborating with our communities. The end game is more vibrant and prosperous places for us all to enjoy.
Locale Consulting was founded by strategic planner Steve Thompson almost 10 years ago on the south coast of NSW. Steve created Locale Consulting with the vision of being a niche consultancy which had no conflicts of interest and delivered practical and personalised services for the local government sector.
Not long after, Steve was joined by Emma Broomfield, who is a qualified lawyer and mediator with a wealth of experience in the sector. Emma expanded our services to include legal and governance advice, and conflict resolution services.
Our team expanded further when principal planner Cinnamon Dunsford joined the fold, bringing additional resources and experience in the areas of planning, community engagement and policy development.
Over five years ago we relocated the business to the small coastal town of Woolgoolga. As well as a growing portfolio of clients on the mid and north coasts, we retain a strong client base on the south coast and continue to operate a mobile office in the Shoalhaven area to service our clients’ needs.
As we come close to celebrating our 10th birthday, we have grown with the addition of Lelia Kamphorst and Michelle Ryan – enhancing our capacity in community engagement and strategy work.
