Milton DCP and Town Centre Master Plan

Milton is an historic village facing both growth pressure from a residential perspective, as well as having tourism/business and community based needs that need to be balanced over the long-term.

In association with Ayling & Drury Landscape Architecture, Locale Consulting prepared a development control plan and supporting urban design master plan, which not only provided the basic development control requirements but also demonstrated the urban design and strategic planning intent upon which these controls were based.  The process involved a staged community engagement process, which established a community vision to reflect in development controls and urban design principles followed by further consultation on the draft documents.  The process provided a wide range on community input, fostering an understanding of the challenges from a number of perspectives and recognising that the future of the village was something that everyone held a stake in.

The outcome was a new DCP with sorting tools to assist council’s planners to assess future development applications and to engage in funding opportunities for public realm improvements.
