Voluntary Planning Agreements

Voluntary planning agreements are a mechanism to provide public benefits in the context of a development proposal. These are often used by developers and councils to secure environmental and other public benefits for the community.

Locale Consulting has been engaged by a local council to prepare a number of voluntary planning agreements, once of which included the creation of a significant new town in a regional setting and delivery of the associated public infrastructure. This included preparation of the accompanying explanatory note. Our team have also been involved in preparing a range of voluntary planning agreements from a legal and planning perspective which delivered a diversity of public benefits.

We can assist you in reviewing the planning merits and benefits of a proposed voluntary planning agreement when it is proposed by a developer as well as drafting the legal framework to ensure delivery of the public benefits under the agreement.
