Katrina is a highly regarded planner with over twenty years’ experience. She has worked on a broad range of projects with her experience taking her internationally, as well as within state government, local government and the private sector. Katrina started with Locale Consulting in mid-2019.
Her breadth of experience has made her a well-rounded professional capable of leading project teams across a range of areas such as rural and regional planning, economic development plans, growth management plans, local strategic planning statements, feasibility studies, social impact assessments, local environmental plans, development control plans, visual assessments, master planning and urban design.
She has a passion for developing a vision as part of the strategic planning process. She believes that by creating a clear vision, this helps create an urban identity and sets realistic goals to design sustainable places in the built and natural environments. This process combined with in-depth local knowledge, unique innovative outcomes and communication skills, promotes placemaking and activation in all environments.
As a PIA award winner, Katrina has worked with the Chief Planner of NSW and a variety of planning authorities in drafting and implementing policy. She has an excellent knowledge base of government mechanisms including ministerial roles, agency functions and central agency responsibilities. This experience has allowed Katrina to think strategically in relation to multifaceted issues and to distill these issues into quality, plain English reports.
Her professional work has involved extensive liaison with diverse communities and governments agencies. This has contributed to her strong range of communication skills including conflict resolution and negotiation, various workshop processes, effective presentations and an intensive customer focus.
