Building Better Regions Fund – Woodburn Riverside Precinct

Woodburn is a location that is facing great change – with a highway by-pass being constructed and the town needing to pro-actively respond to its future challenges.  The Federal Government’s Building Better Regions Funds (BBRF), combined with the Woodburn Riverside and Streetscape Master Plan, presented an opportunity to engage with this challenge.

Having undertaken the master plan, Locale set about demonstrating how the project would provide the basis for future growth and prosperity of the town and its surrounds.  In preparing a full suite of submission documents, there was a need to show how the highway based economy could change to one which has its own distinct attractions – creating longer-stay tourism and day visitation.

The project also highlighted the potential for the town to become a significant locality for water based sports (water skiing, wakeboarding etc.), creating a significant revenue stream that is currently hampered by the presence of the highway within the town.
