Berry Community Strategic Plan

Communities are almost always looking to work co-operatively and fruitfully with each other, with councils and with other levels of government.  Identifying and co-ordinating their needs and desires can however be a much more complex task.

Locale Consulting is working with an overarching community group in the historic, regional village of Berry to assist and support the group’s preparation of an implementable “Community Strategic Plan”.  The need for the plan has been partly triggered by a highway bypass being constructed around the town, though Locale was involved in a similar project that was purely about co-ordinating existing desires.  Our approach to these community based projects is to work closely with the community to provide guidance, but not instruct, so as to ensure that the deliverables are owned by those responsible for their implementation – i.e. the community.  We assist with tasks such as recommended engagement techniques, to distilling core themes and ideas, and the preparation of documents to independently reflect the information gathered.

The outcome of these projects is ultimately a prioritised working document which can assist communities, councils and others to recognise and work co-operatively towards agreed strategic directions.
